PJ developed and operated the Pit at Inspira since 2008. He has coached thousands of athletes over the years starting as young as 5 years old all the way up to professionals.

 

Notable athletes that have trained at his facility include: 3 time AL MVP Mike Trout, former minor league pitchers Darren Fisher and Will Latchem, former MLB catcher Johnny Monel and current minor leaguer Buddy Kennedy.

 

His systematic training approach developed over the past decade focuses on developing strength speed, speed strength, and power as well injury prevention support system function to help athletes of all ages reach his/her potential.

 

Along with his athletic trainers, physical therapists, and sports medicine physicians we have all the necessary resources to appropriately and successfully develop athletes and push thresholds. His triphasic training approach will maximize isometric, eccentric and concentric principles proven to expedite speed strength and power development. He is looking forward to working with your athlete to help him/her maximize their potential and reach their athletic goals.

JOHN OEHLER

Playing Experience
Alumnus of Audubon High (99) and Old Dominion University (03). During his playing career at Audubon High School he was a 2 time All State Catcher, 3 time All Conference, 3 time Carpenter Cup, Pre-Season All-American Senior Year, and won 2 State Titles in 1996 and 1998. The starting catcher for Brooklawn American Legion from 1996-1999, During that time they won 3 State titles, 2 Regional Titles, and made it to the American Legion World Series in 98 and 99.

 

John accepted a full Scholarship to play at Old Dominion University, was their starting Catcher for 4 years, 4 time CAA player of the week, 1 time All Conference, CAA Champs in 2000, and made it to the Clemson Regional in 2000 while being ranked in the Top 25 in the nation for Division 1 Baseball.  At Old Dominion was the catcher of  former MLB Cy Young award winner and MVP Justin Verlander. During his college summers he played 2 years in the Valley League and spent 1 year in the Cape Cod Summer League.  He played 2 seasons in the Independent Professional League for the Mid Missouri Mavericks.

Coaching Experience
Coaching career began in 2006 in Virginia Beach at Frank W. Cox High School as a Varsity Assistant. After one season, he moved back to South Jersey and began teaching Health and Physical Education in the Pennsville School District, where he also coached baseball for 4 years.

 

In 2011 he was Head Coach of Gloucester high and is presently the Head Varsity Coach of West Deptford High School in which he led the Eagles (2015 season) to the First State Championship Title in the school’s history and was named the 2015 South Jersey High School baseball Coach of Year.

 

In the off-season, John is a hitting and catching instructor who has worked with many South Jersey baseball players who are now playing Division 1 baseball.
